Banasura Sagar Dam

Banasura Sagar Dam is known as the largest earthen dam(Sand Dam) in India and the second largest in Asia. The Banasura Sagar Dam is at padinjarethara, 25 km from Kalpetta, in Wayanad District in the Western Ghats. There are several islands in the reservoir which were formed by drigging the dam for its construction. The islands are so much thrilling to the boat riders. The islands , Banasura hills , neat and eye catching garden, the children’s park and the soft wind are so attractive to the visitors.

The visitors can enter the dam site from 9 am. The boating club continue their service up to 5 PM
